Gonorrhoea

Gonorrhoea is a disease that can affect the genital area, the urethra in women, the rectum and even the throat.

Spreading of the infection can occur through a numerous methods such as sex, sharing sex toys and even passed on at birth from mother to child.

Women can demonstrate signs of gonorrhoea in many forms. Some include blood eminating from the anus, vaginal leakage with a potent odour and suffering when urinating. Men can display inflated testies, pain from passing fluids in the toilet and abnormal coloured discharge from the penis.

Like all other sexual transmitted infections, left untreated it can have life changing consequences especially for women. The ability to reproduce can be harmed or even totally eradicated and in scenarios where it’s passed from mother to baby at birth it can result in it being born blind.

Getting tested is easy, usually a swab is taken of even just a urine sample will suffice.

If it is detected then the patient can be put on some medication to clean out the infection.
